Books & Publications

"Historic Mill Creek" traces the history of northern Michigan’s first industrial complex, a settlement on the banks of Mill Creek that furnished lumber to Mackinac Island in the early 19th century.

Included among its pages is an explanation of the unique geology and land forms that made Mill Creek the most ideal place for a mill, the many trails and the wildlife you may encounter along its banks, and the story of how the mill's location was rediscovered by an amateur archaeologist in 1972.
